Thanks for stopping by Daria's personal writing blog!
Daria is a writer, medical student, and daughter of Chinese immigrants. She graduated from Columbia University in 2021 with a Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences and currently attends Saint Louis University School of Medicine.

In undergrad, Daria spent hours volunteering at Mount Sinai Hospital and through Columbia's "A Friend for Rachel" program, working with patients with delirium and Alzheimer's. In medical school, she developed an interest in movement disorders, neuromuscular disease, and stroke, deciding to pursue Neurology. In her writing, she combines these clinical experiences to create human stories about the inheritance of memory, especially as it pertains to immigrants and their children, as well as the biological loss of memory, which comes with aging.
A long-time fan of physician-writers such as Oliver Sacks and Atul Gawande, she also hopes to write stories centered around patients, capturing the spectrum of emotions which come with neurodegenerative illness, such as ALS and Parkinson's Disease. She's also interested in writing stories separate from medicine and loves magical realism!

In her free time, Daria enjoys reading, playing piano, and playing tennis.
